Northwich is fast becoming a magnet for exciting independent bars and restaurants. The latest, Barons Quay Social is currently in advanced negotiations with Cheshire West and Chester Council, over a 6,000 sq foot unit with a 4,000 sq foot roof top terrace in Barons Quay, overlooking the River Weaver.
The first Street Social venue opened in New Brighton in May 2018, called Marine Street Social, it is described as a food and drink market where people can eat, drink, dance and socialise. The Barons Quay venue is proposed to be similar and will host live music, DJs and events.
Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Infrastructure, Councillor Brian Clarke said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Barons Quay Social has shown an interest in bringing an entirely new and exciting leisure offer to Northwich’s Barons Quay.
“The Council is continuing discussions with the operators and we’re confident that Barons Quay is an ideal location for them. We are finalising the terms of the deal and anticipate making an official announcement to our residents in the coming weeks.”
Owner, Carl Thomas said: “The whole team are really excited to be coming to Northwich, it’s a beautiful town, the venue stood out for us because of its positioning overlooking the river.
“We have over ten years of events experience, booking some of the biggest artists in music and we will be fully utilising our experience to bring acts to Barons Quay Social, both electronic and live.
“We will be a multipurpose space that will cater for all lovers of music, drink, food and art. Keep an eye on our Facebook page Barons Quay Social for updates on our progress and opening”.
This latest edition to Barons Quay will bring the occupancy rate to 64%. Talks with several other retailers and leisure organisations are ongoing.
