Northwich’s Rotary Clubs are coming up with new initiatives to raise money for charity after the cancellation of events such as the River Festival, pictured above.
A range of fantastic prizes are on offer as part of a new raffle which has been launched by Northwich’s Rotary Clubs.
The Big Rotary New Year’s Raffle, which is being organised by the Rotary Clubs of Northwich, Northwich Vale Royal and Northwich Weaver Valley, is taking place following the cancellation of a number of scheduled events because of Coronavirus, including the Northwich Beer Festival and the Northwich River Festival.
Money from the Raffle will go to a range of charities including Cheshire Young Carers, St Luke’s Hospice and Cheshire Food Hub, with some fantastic prizes on offer.
These include a first prize of £1,000, a one-week cottage holiday, a private aircraft flight over Cheshire, golf lessons, food hampers and much, much more.
Raffle tickets cost just £2 each and are available until Monday 30th November via www.northwichraffle.org.uk.
Currently, the three Rotary Clubs are looking for supporters to sponsor the Raffle for £50 and to also donate prizes. The winning ticket, which will be a great boost to someone’s start to 2021, will be drawn at noon on New Year’s Day live on Radio Northwich.
Nigel Barrington-Smith, Vice President of the Rotary Club of Northwich Vale Royal, said: “Coronavirus has caused so many of our popular events to be cancelled in 2020 but we were determined to organise something to help support local charities.
“There are some fantastic prizes on offer too so I would urge people to get involved to be in with a chance of starting the New Year on a high!”
The initiative has been praised by the Northwich Business Improvement District (BID) who have worked in partnership with the town’s Rotary Clubs for many years to cross-promote events, deliver community-led projects and raise the profile of the town and surrounding areas.
Northwich BID Project Manager Adam Gerrard commented: “The Big Rotary New Year’s Raffle is a fantastic way to raise much-needed funds for charities and organisations who have done some amazing work this year during the pandemic.
“Events that the Northwich Rotary Clubs organise, such as the Beer and River Festivals, have been sorely missed this year by everyone in the town but hopefully this Raffle will bring a smile to people’s faces and give a much-needed boost after a difficult year.
“Circumstances permitting, we can’t wait to work in partnership with Northwich’s Rotary Clubs in 2021 to hopefully deliver some great events like we’ve seen in previous years.”
