In and around Northwich there are a range of beautiful parks and green spaces for visitors to enjoy. Take the kids to a play area, walk the dogs or discover a spectacular new walking or running route. The scenery is some of the best in the whole of Cheshire and there is so much to explore!
Verdin Park
Just a five minute walk from Northwich Town Centre, Verdin Park is perfect for a lunchtime stroll.
The flat paths are easy to navigate and the designated dog walking zone is great for canine lovers. Beautiful flowers are often in bloom too and on a clear day you can see the Pennines from the top of the park.
Make sure you don’t miss the statue in the centre of the park either. It’s dedicated to Robert Verdin who was a local salt manufacturer and Liberal Unionist Member of Parliament for Northwich.
Vickersway Park
Northwich’s hidden gem, Vickersway Park, offers something for everyone and is well worth a visit. There’s a great play area for the kids, tennis courts, an outdoor gym and even two miniature golf courses!
The trees, lawns and flowers are always well kept too making it a lovely place to relax on a sunny day. What’s more there’s also a well-stocked shop selling drinks, snacks and ice creams. Why not pay it a visit one weekend?
Marbury Park
Less than ten minutes’ drive from the centre of Northwich, Marbury Park is a must visit. Walk through ancient woodlands, gaze over Budworth Mere or simply enjoy the peaceful sound of birdsong.
Miles of well-marked paths make it easy for walkers, runners, cyclists and horse riders to navigate and there is a picnic area with plenty of cover near to the large car park. The Trent and Mersey canal meanders right next to the park too providing great links to Anderton Boat Lift and beyond.
Carey Park
Carey Park was opened in 2003 and is an enchanting place to explore. Wildlife thrives in the park and wild grasses and flowers grow successfully there throughout the year. It’s also a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). This means it’s of particular interest because of its flora, fauna, geological or physiological features. What better reason to visit the park?
There are plenty of paths for walkers and nature lovers to enjoy and the park also links to a range of Northwich’s best structures and environments including the flashes, Anderton Boat Lift and the Lion Salt Works via Northwich woodlands.
Plus you can access Carey Park from the Cumberland Street Car Park so you don’t even need to leave Northwich to get there!
Ashton’s and Neumann’s Flashes
As part of the Northwich woodlands, the flashes offer visitors a lovely location to enjoy all year round.
Whether you’re rambling, walking the dog, running, cycling or even horse riding, there are miles of linked paths with great views of the flashes and the surrounding countryside.
They’re definitely worth visiting if you’re a nature lover too! Rare insect, the Dingy Skipper Butterfly, can be found there and migrating birds drop in throughout the year.
Trails can be accessed from the Witton Mill Car Park off Old Warrington Road.

The Northwich Woodlands
Sitting to the north of the town centre, the Northwich Woodlands provide a peaceful and relaxing environment to enjoy nature and the great outdoors.
Nine countryside sites make up the woodlands and there is something different to explore in each one.
Both the Trent and Mersey Canal and River Weaver flow through the area too which adds diversity to the scenery.
Walk, run, cycle, watch some wildlife or enjoy a picnic; the Northwich Woodlands provide a great day out.
