Crowds flocked to Northwich on Saturday 23rd November as the town held its annual Christmas Extravaganza.
Organised and funded once again by the Northwich Business Improvement District (BID) and Northwich Town Council, with support from Barons Quay and Northwich Rotary Club, thousands came into the town centre to enjoy the festive attractions and activities that had been organised.
These included Christmas markets, a craft village, fairground rides, cooking demonstrations, food stalls and bars, a Christmas Bauble Trail and performances from the Frodsham Community Choir, while a giant snow globe and Santaโs grotto provided yuletide cheer.
Visitors enjoyed the skating rink too which was located in Barons Quay and excitement was also provided by Barnton Circus and a Fun House.
All of the entertainments during the afternoon lead up to the grand finale which began at 4:30pm with the schoolโs lantern parade, before the light switch and a firework display ensured a spectacular end to proceedings.
This year, for the first time ever, the fireworks were set off from Barons Quay with crowds lining the street all the way back to Barons Square to see the display light up the Northwich night sky.

Chair of the Northwich BID, Michael Thomas, has never seen the Christmas Extravaganza so busy in the town and has thanked everyone for attending.
โIt was fantastic to see so many people in Northwich for the Extravaganza โ I genuinely donโt think Iโve ever seen it so busy for an event that the BID and our partners have organised.
โOver the past few years we have worked hard to try and position Northwich as a destination with a difference and weโre really grateful to be able to deliver events of this nature following the crucial BID2 vote that was held during the summer. As an organisation weโre determined to help make Northwich an even better place to work, live and visit.

โIโd also like to say thank you to our many amazing businesses and traders for their support on Saturday and throughout the year. Hopefully they saw plenty of visitors on the day thatโll be back over the festive period.โ
Northwich Town Mayor Cllr Kevin Rimmer enjoyed the Extravaganza too, commenting: โYet again the people of Northwich came out in their droves to support another town centre event. It was an honour to switch the lights on in the town and I would like to thank all the volunteers, staff and businesses for all their hard work in making this event such a success for the town.โย
