For those looking for a stylish and unusual Mother’s Day gift, the Anderton Boat Lift is offering visitors the chance to enjoy a deluxe afternoon tea at its Lift View Marquee.

In an exclusive offer, everyone that books for tea will also receive a free boat trip combining both a magical trip through the iconic lift and a trip down the picturesque River Weaver, where they will learn about the unique heritage of Northwich.

For those who want to give the event extra fizz, Prosecco is also available for purchase. Available on Sunday 31 March from 11.45am – 4.00pm, this event is part of a series of bespoke afternoon teas for 2019.

Run by the Canal & River Trust charity, tickets cost £24.99 per adult and £14.99 per child. There is no charge for children under 5 years old and the adult charge only applies to children over 15 years old. To avoid missing the boat, visitors must be at the Lift no later than 11.45am. The luxury afternoon tea will be served at 1.30pm and guests are welcome to enjoy the rest of the site until 4pm. 

Located on the terraced site overlooking the River Weaver, the heated Lift View Marquee is, as the name suggests, next to the Lift – the world’s first successful boat lift and an acknowledged masterpiece of Victorian engineering. Afternoon teas will comprise of a range of freshly-made sandwiches, delicious cakes and a selection of teas.

From its crisp tablecloths to its beautifully-presented food, the Lift’s professional in-house catering staff aim to create a special oasis of calm and tranquillity for its guests. Sparkling glasses of Prosecco can also be bought to toast visitors’ special mothers. On request, teas can cater for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free guests.

There is no cost to enter the Anderton Boat Lift site and it is also free to visit the hands-on exhibition and well-stocked shop. A £50,000 free fun play area, designed to resemble the Anderton Boat Lift and some of the features of the site, is always a great hit amongst the site’s youngest visitors.
