Northwich is gearing up for a magical Christmas season with activities and attractions to delight residents and visitors of all ages. Festivities officially launch on Saturday, November 23rd with the annual Christmas Extravaganza, which starts at 11am, filling the town with holiday cheer. Visitors can enjoy free activities such as a Christmas Crazy Golf course, a bustling craft village, face painting and plenty of family-friendly games. One of the key attractions will be Santa’s sleigh, which promises memorable photo opportunities and excitement for children eager to meet Santa himself.
For those who want to pick up some stocking fillers and gifts, a Christmas Market featuring 15 different stalls will be in situ at Apple Market Place, including sweet treats, homewares, jewellery and much more. Fantastic Chef Nigel Brown will also be cooking up a storm in FREE cookery demos.
As dusk settles, the town will come alive with a spectacular lantern parade, starting at Waitrose at 5pm and leading to the highly anticipated Christmas lights switch-on in Barons Square at 5:30pm. A dazzling fireworks display will follow at 6pm, illuminating the skies and marking the start of the season in Northwich.
The Christmas Extravaganza also sees the launch of the Christmas Trail. Hidden across the town in shop windows will be 17 letters – together they spell a festive phrase. Visitors simply have to find the letters and work out the phrase, then submit their answer, along with contact details, for a chance to win great prizes.
For even more winter excitement, an indoor ice rink will be open for skating at Barons Quay (between H&M and The Entertainer) from November 30th to December 1st. Each session lasts 30 minutes, and pre-booked tickets are essential! With a dedicated SEND session on Sunday 1st December the rink is sure to be a hit with all.
Shoppers can explore the final Artisan Market of 2024 on December 9th, where unique holiday gifts and seasonal treats from lots of fantastic independent traders will be available. Additionally, Northwich venues will host an array of themed performances, carol singing, and special entertainment throughout December, creating a festive atmosphere for families and friends.
Santa’s Grotto also makes a welcome return, courtesy of Northwich Rotary. Located by H&M, the Grotto will be in situ every Saturday from November 23rd, with the last date Saturday December 21st. Each meeting with Santa lasts 5 minutes and tickets are £7.50 per child. To book tickets, please click here.
