Six of Northwich’s businesses have been celebrating after receiving prizes for their entries into an ‘In Bloom’ competition.
In August, the Northwich Business Improvement District (BID) laid down a challenge to retailers to become the ‘Best Dressed Business’ or ‘Best Dressed Pub’ in conjunction with the town’s bid to triumph at the North West in Bloom Awards.
Entrants embraced creativity as they decorated windows, gardens, bars, shop fronts and shopping areas to wow customers and visitors, with voting taking place over on the Visit Northwich Facebook page.
Hundreds had their say and although it was a close contest, Bella Boutique was named the Best Dressed Business while The Salty Dog scooped top prize for the Best Dressed Pub.
Both received a bottle of champagne and trophy for being crowned champions and the two runners up in each competition, CRS Consultants, Crafty Stitches, Stateside Bar & Kitchen and Baron’s Lounge, were also the recipients of trophies for their efforts.
Stephanie Leese, Business Team Co-ordinator at the Northwich BID, handed out the awards and has praised all of the businesses that took part. She also enjoyed seeing yet more community spirit and camaraderie between business owners.
“The BID would like to congratulate Bella Boutique and The Salty Dog for coming out on top in the two competitions and every business that entered deserves credit too for their creativity, ingenuity and ability to think outside the box.
“Northwich was full of extra colour thanks to them, and their designs definitely added an eye-catching element to our streets.
“It was also great to see the levels of co-operation and teamwork between the different businesses throughout the competition. They work so well together across a range of initiatives and it’s a real plus point across the whole town centre that they all have such a good working relationship.”
The two competitions make up just one element of Northwich’s North West in Bloom entry which also includes initiatives such as community litter picks, planting projects and street cleansing.
Northwich must now wait until late autumn for the results at an official ceremony.
