Celebrating Anderton Boat Lift’s 150th Anniversary

To celebrate our BIG birthday, we’ll be transporting visitors back in time to 1875 by hosting a spectacular, immersive Victorian Fair with traditional games, entertainment, circus skills and workshops. Classic organ grinders and nostalgic street music will all add to the atmosphere of this bygone era. We’ll be dressed up in our Victorian best so feel free to join us and enjoy the show!
The LEGO man will be running special ‘Make & Take’ workshops where visitors can make an exclusive 150th anniversary model of the lift! (sessions will be charged at £15 per person).
The Anderton Boat Lift – Northwich’s iconic ‘Cathedral of Canals’ – is the world’s first major commercial boat lift and 2025 marks the 150th anniversary of this unique Scheduled Monument. We look forward to welcoming as many people as possible to join us to celebrate our special year.
