The leaves are starting to turn a crispy golden brown. There’s a chill in the air for the first time since before summer. Autumn is here!

Everyone misses summer once it’s over but there are still lots of things to see and do in Northwich now that the nights are drawing in.

Keep reading to discover seven great activities and ideas for filling those autumn days between now and the start of winter.

1. POP TO A PARK

Where better to enjoy autumn’s colours than in one of the town’s beautiful parks?

Both Verdin Park and Vickersway Park are just a short walk from the town centre and further afield Marbury Park offers miles of paths to explore and enjoy.

Crunch through leaves and enjoy the outdoors while taking advantage of the amazing scenery autumn offers.

2. DISCOVER THE TOWN’S HERITAGE

Northwich has a rich, varied history with so much waiting to be learned and discovered.

The award-winning Lion Salt Works takes visitors on a journey back in time to the area’s salt making heyday, while the Anderton Boat Lift is a feat of engineering. Check out the visitor centre or wander in the grounds to get a better look at the structure.

Don’t miss a visit to Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse either which often features exhibitions and displays.

Please double check with venues before visiting as restrictions are likely to be in force because of COVID-19.

3. Wander By Our Waterways

Rivers and canals are perfect for enjoying the countryside and escaping the hustle and bustle of the town centre.

Here in Northwich we’re lucky enough to have three! From the town centre you can enjoy strolls by both the River Weaver and River Dane and just outside Northwich you can get onto the Trent and Mersey Canal.

Walk, run, cycle or even watch some wildlife – the opportunities are endless.

4. Check Out The Latest Blockbusters

Weather not playing ball? Then why not watch one of the latest films at Northwich’s ODEON cinema!

With five theatres and one of the UK’s only ISENSE screens, you’ll be able to watch your favourite films in style and comfort.

Autumn’s line-up of film releases looks great too! Head to the ODEON’s website to check dates, COVID-19 guidance and times at Barons Quay.

5. Explore An Independent Store

Northwich is well-known for its array of independent businesses and retailers who all bring passion and creativity to the high street.

This autumn, why not pop in to a few of them and support our independents? Whether you’re looking for a gift or simply to treat yourself, you’re bound to find something that catches your eye.

Independent businesses are the lifeblood of the high street.
