The Northwich Business Improvement District (BID) has been working with Northwich Town Council (NTC) and Barons Quay to bring the local community a Christmas light switch-on video.

The festive video features messages from Michael Thomas, Chair of the Northwich BID and Sam Naylor, Cheshire West and Chester and Northwich Town Councillor, wishing the town a very merry Christmas before launching into the countdown.

Local businesses from Northwich feature in the video presenting a different number of the countdown, starting at ten. There is a range of businesses involved including BEAR, Vinnie’s, The Wow Shop, the Library and more.

This year, there is an abundance of decorations displayed throughout the town centre including festive lights, four Christmas trees and a light display at Town Bridge.

The video shows the lights being switched on across Northwich in place of the annual switch-on event that usually takes place around this time.

Unfortunately the popular Christmas Extravaganza won’t be taking place this year but the BID is keen to still bring festive spirit to the town in a year that it’s needed more than ever.

Northwich BID Project Manager Adam Gerrard wanted to make sure that the town kept its festive spirit and traditions, even with the absence of the Extravaganza event.

“The aim of our Christmas light switch-on video was to inject some festive spirit into the community whilst showing off all the wonderful lights and decorations that have been installed across the town.

“It’s a shame that the Christmas Extravaganza can’t go ahead this year but we still wanted to mark the occasion with something festive albeit virtual this year!

“On behalf of the Northwich BID, I just want to say a huge thank you to all of the businesses that got involved with the countdown and sent us creative, festive videos to be included in the final cut.”
