Visitors flocked to Northwich on Saturday 20th April as the town hosted the 2019 Easter Extravaganza.

Organised by the Northwich Business Improvement District (BID), Northwich Independent Retailers Association (NIRA) and Barons Quay, people of all ages enjoyed the various activities that were taking place throughout the town centre.

These included the always-popular Great Northwich Easter Hunt, donkey rides, arts and crafts, appearances from Vale Royal Falconry, face painting and balloon modelling, while over at Barons Quay there was Easter egg and card decorating.

Northwich BID Manager Jane Hough was delighted with the turnout and was also thankful for the warm, sunny weather.

“Over 19,000 people came into the town on the day to see what was going on and hopefully many of them also went into some of our amazing businesses to check out their products and services. We were relieved that the sun came out for us too – it wasn’t a surprise to see so many smiling faces.

“Throughout the first term of the BID over the last five years we feel as though events like this year’s Easter Extravaganza help drive footfall to the town centre and having spoken to businesses, it’s clear that these kind of events are important when it comes to attracting new customers,” added Jane.

Local business owner Michael Batey volunteered on Saturday to help with the delivery of the event and has spoken about the brilliant atmosphere in the town.

“After spending the day talking to visitors and some businesses I was blown away by how friendly, supportive and passionate people were about Northwich. There was a great vibe all day and everyone seemed to really enjoy what the BID and their partners had delivered,” said Michael.

“Hopefully businesses will say yes to a second term for the Northwich BID when they vote later this year because events like this are brilliant for the town and it would be a shame to see them come to an end if the BID doesn’t get renewed.”

Following the Easter Extravaganza visitors took to the Visit Northwich Facebook page to praise the event.

One poster said: “Thank you to everyone that helped organise the Extravaganza, we had a lovely day,” while another commented: “We had a brilliant day! Thanks to the organisers and everyone who was able to help with the activities.”
