The sun is shining. The skies are blue. Summer is finally here! To celebrate we have compiled a list of some great things to do in and around Northwich to help you plan your time and make the most of summer this year.
1. fESTIVAL OF ARTS IN NORTHWICH
Month of July
This month-long festival will celebrate the creativity of talented individuals and groups in the area. There will be so many exciting workshops and sessions across a range of artistic mediums. A number of other exhibitions will also be running for the entire month.
The Northwich Carnival on Saturday 6th July is planned to kick-start the festival celebrations. Northwich Scooter Day takes place the following day and then the Northwich Artisan Market the Saturday after. Northwich Art Shop’s Grand Day Out will be on Saturday 27th July. Make sure you take a look at the list of all the activities planned in July for the Festival of Arts.
2. Northwich art shop’s grand day out
Thursday 27th July
There will be many local artists and community art groups in attendance at Northwich Memorial Court to celebrate exciting art. This will be a fabulous day out whether you’re a budding artist or just wish to admire the amazing art work created by local artists. There will also be live demonstrations to watch throughout the day. Entry is free and you don’t need to book a ticket.
3. Afternoon Tea & boat trip at anderton boat lift

Looking for a relaxing afternoon out? This could be the perfect trip for you! The Anderton Boat Lift is hosting several exclusive afternoon tea experiences. It includes a trip into the Boat Lift and a wonderful journey on the River Weaver. You will then be back on dry land in time to enjoy a deluxe afternoon tea in the stunning Lift View Marquee. 4. Northwich river festival
Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July
The Northwich River Festival is returning to town for its third year. There will be Dragon Boat Racing, Raft Racing, Duck Racing and more!
Mid Cheshire SUP (Stand-up Paddleboarders) will be attending both days to offer displays, demonstrations and taster sessions. The Newfoundland Dogs from Canis Major Training Team will also be there to show off their skills in water rescue. Visit the website for more details and to get involved!
5. Firework championships at arley hall & gardens
Saturday 17th August
Are you a fan of fireworks? Prepare to be mesmerised by the fabulous firework display at Arley Hall and Gardens this August. You will watch three teams fire up against each other and then text in to vote for the winning display.
Bring a picnic or buy some food and sit back, relax and enjoy the evening. This explosive competition is sure to go off with a bang! Head to the website for more information.
6. Enjoy the parks & green spaces
There’s nothing better than being outside enjoying the sun on a warm sunny day. Northwich has some lovely greenspaces which you can enjoy this summer. Marbury Park offers an open air pool which is perfect for cooling off in the hotter months. At Vickersway Park you can play crazy golf, tennis or have a go at bowling, and at Verdin Park you could enjoy the stunning surroundings whilst tucking into a picnic on the grass.
