With Mother’s Day around the corner, we wanted to talk to the lovely Mother and Daughter duo, Penny and Emma, who own Vinnies.
Vinnies, located in Apple Market Place, is an independent, family-run business which was born out of Penny’s passion for baking.
Penny and Emma used to work from home as property managers for a national property management company. They were fed up with the long hours and constant complaints, so decided “we were going to take the plunge and start up a milkshake and cupcake shop”.
And that’s how Vinnie’s came to be. Vinnies began in 2017 in the Market, making shakes, cakes and cupcakes.
Emma told us they noticed a demand for a wider variety of products and quickly outgrew their stall within the first year. So Vinnies moved to Market Street shortly after and will be celebrating five years of being there this June.
What made you choose Northwich?
“We moved to Northwich in 2000 and have always had a love for the town. At the time, there was nowhere that offered what we were proposing and what better place to set up shop than in the town that you call home?!” Say’s Emma.
What’s it like working together as Mother and Daughter?
Penny told us, “ I love it; I think we make a great team. Whilst we’re both hard-working, we have a very different approaches to the workplace so balance each other out nicely. “
“I love working with my mum, and getting to build this business from the ground up with her by my side is an experience that I’m so grateful for” says Emma.
Did you know Vinnies also makes celebration cakes and cater for events?
You need to give a minimum of two weeks’ notice for both. For catered events, they will create a unique menu for you!
However, depending on their availability, they will always try their best if something is last minute.
Mother’s Day Gifts.
Penny is delighted to tell us they are offering a range of treats for Mother’s Day, from treat boxes including cake pops, brownies and blondies to individual heart cakes to cupcake baskets. “We’ll have lots of ways to spoil mum without breaking the bank!”
