Live music will return to Barons Quay this Saturday courtesy of Radio Northwich, who are finally celebrating their move to the Centre 12 months ago.

Nine performers will take to the stage in Barons Square, opposite Asda, from 10am until 4pm. DJ’s from the station will host the free music event showcasing some of the region’s best live acts.

Radio Northwich is a digital station that was established in 2018 and although it can be heard around the world, they are dedicated to listeners in Cheshire and the North West. 28 DJ’s work from the Barons Quay studio, presenting lively shows 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Among the musicians are the two winners of the Music Is Quay competition; Matty Ian and Uncharted. They performed at events on the 14th and 28th August respectively and were then voted as favourites via an online vote on social media.

Matty Ian is a singer/songwriter from Chester. Visitors can expect to hear a mix of his own songs as well as a cover or two. Uncharted, a band of five talented local lads who recently left Leftwich High School, won over the crowd to win the second Music Is Quay event.

Other acts include Les Martin, an experienced performer from Winsford who plays classic covers from The Beatles to The Beach Boys.

Andre Adams, a multi-talented 15 year old from Winsford, who attends Hartford CE High School, and plays Saxophone (Alto and Tenor), drums and also DJs!

Jim Stanley, well known around town for his fabulous artwork, but many might not know that he composes and sings songs about Northwich too!

Dillon Lamb, from Sandbach has been singing for around 10 years and describes his style as neo-soul.

Barnton Silver Band is a friendly Brass Band based in Barnton. First formed in 1891 they are approaching their 130th anniversary!

Mid Cheshire Musical Theatre will present songs from the forthcoming production of “Sunshine on Leith” at the Memorial Court later this month.

Finally, Marooned, a bluesy rock four piece band from the Northwest of England Formed in 2010 by Kev Miller in the streets of Kirkby, Liverpool.

John Thompson from Radio Northwich said: “We moved to our new studio at Barons Quay a year ago, but due to the pandemic, lockdowns and local restrictions we haven’t been able to celebrate the move properly.

“In spite of Covid-19 we have continued to broadcast and have grown our loyal audience. Our Open Funday on Saturday is our way of saying thank you to everyone who has supported us during this difficult time including local businesses, our dedicated staff and of course the listeners!”
