Running in Northwich and the surrounding countryside has never been more accessible and enjoyable. Explore waterways, woodlands and historic habitats as you race through the Mid Cheshire countryside while staying fit and healthy!

Waterways

Northwich’s waterways make for a peaceful and scenic environment to clock up the miles. Jog along the Trent and Mersey Canal or test your speed alongside the River Dane.

There’s even a one mile route that starts by the outdoor gym in Vickersway Park – perfect for beginners.

The River Weaver also has miles of paths to enjoy – just make sure you keep your eyes open for wildlife!

Northwich Woodlands

If you’re keen to go running in Northwich you should definitely add the Northwich Woodlands to your list!

Both Carey Park and Marbury Park have miles of well-marked paths to follow and if you’re looking for a longer run you can link this in with a loop of Ashton’s and Neumann’s flashes.

Start from either Cumberland Street Car Park or Marbury itself. Simply lace up your trainers and off you go.

Groups and Races

If you’re feeling a bit racy, there are plenty of options for competitive running in Northwich.

The Northwich Park run takes place every Saturday morning in Carey Park from 9am and there are often 5k and 10k races taking in Northwich’s countryside and visitor attractions, such as the Anderton Boat Lift and Arley Hall.

Running Club

Northwich also has its very own running club which is ideal for runners and joggers of all ability. Everyone is very supportive and the club is a great way of building up your fitness in a friendly environment.

Wider Mid Cheshire

Further afield, wider Mid Cheshire offers spectacular running routes and trails to enjoy.

There are countless routes in Delamere Forest, and the Whitegate Way offers flat terrain right through the heart of the Cheshire countryside. Both have cafes that make the perfect pit stop should you need refreshments or a quick breather.
